Daniela studied human biology at the University of Greifswald and majored in immunology, human genetics and biochemistry/molecular biology.
During her diploma thesis she was working on the identification of proteomic changes in human brain tissue associated with the development or progression of epilepsy.

In June 2007 she joined the Jakob-Lab for her PhD to study the effect of reactive oxygen species on the nematode C. elegans.

In her spare time she likes playing (beach) volleyball, badminton and ultimate frisbee, watching movies, reading and traveling.
